Manufacturing artistic happenstances for the greater good of the Earth.

As the world enters an era of ecological consequence, obxium delivers sculpture, sound, light and living systems to the places that need them, in seasons, not decades.

Our Practice
Solutions for the quiet emergencies of today.
Under the driftwood and paper sits ordinary, honest hardware: solar cells, hand-wound antennas, software-defined radios listening for the weather, and a satellite link for the works too far out to shout. We build all of it ourselves, and most of it floats.
Our Business
Patient work, built at speed.
Some happenstances can be kept. When a work agrees to it, its moment is minted on a public blockchain: one token per tide print, per glint, per line written across the night. Collectors hold the moment, never the place. Proceeds fund the next accident. Most works decline, and that is fine too.
Our People
The brightest minds in improbable craft.
Kite-makers sit beside people who train models. Mycologists pair with RF engineers. Our agents are patient, our inference runs on open models we publish, and every new accomplice learns to splice a rope and read a spectrum in the same week.

We learned it from manuals.
For thirty years the Copenhagen collective N55 has published plain manuals for things anyone can build: a floating platform, a walking house, a soil factory, land that any person may stay on and use. Our practice stands on their argument that art is always about persons and their meaningful behaviour with other persons and things, in concrete situations.
So we try to work as they do. Every work is maintained by the persons who use it, and anyone can add to it. Things are left in public, not for sale, and made to break down in sun and water. Power should stay as small as possible, including ours. Read the N55 manuals ↗
